A Chlorine Shower Filter Keeps You Healthy

Investing in a chlorine shower filter may be one of the single most important things you can do for your health. Showering in chlorinated water can affect your entire body, with effects adding up over time that you do not even notice while it is happening. There is a lot you should know about the effects of bathing in chlorine.

Most of us would never dream of drinking tap water. The chlorine levels are so high, in an effort to kill off any bacteria, that the smell and taste of our tap water is of chlorine. Drinking chlorinated water is almost like drinking diluted bleach.

And yet, we shower in chlorinated water without giving it a second thought. The thing is, the chlorine in the water becomes a gas at a lower temperature than the water becomes steam. So what we are breathing in that shower is a higher concentration of chlorine.

In a hot shower, the heat opens up our pores. This makes it that much easier for the chlorine in the water to be absorbed into the pores of our skin and into the blood. The toxin is also breathed into the lungs. Your intake of chlorine in a shower is far more than you would get if you did drink tap water. Many studies have now confirmed that showering can indeed be hazardous to your health.

Several different shower filters are available today to filter chlorine. Most shower filters used to use a charcoal based media. These filter out some, but usually not all, of the chlorine. However, bacteria can also breed in this type of media, and they will then be in the water you shower with.

A newer technology is called KDF. This media is able to filter out several substances including heavy metals and chlorine. It uses ionic charge to remove the chlorine, and is able to get at about 99%. A further benefit is that bacteria growth in this media is not possible.

With either kind of shower filter, most styles are the type that has replaceable filters. You will know it is time to replace your filter when the smell of chlorine is very strong. How often that will be is going to depend on the number of people using it, how often showers are taken and for how long.

An additional thing to look at when deciding on a shower filter is the physical design of it. Some shower filters are meant to be attached at the end of the pipe, sometimes between the pipe and the shower head. The result is less room to stand underneath. Others have the filtration unit above or at the side so less room is taken up.

It will probably take some time to research available chlorine shower filters but there is definitely one that will meet both your needs and your budget. But do not make your choice based on price alone, or even design. How effective it is at filtering is the single most important thing on which to base your choice.

Save yourself and your family from hazardous chemicals-get a shower water filter to make your water safer. A chlorine shower filter will greatly reduce your family’s health risks! Make the logical choice today that could save your life!
